Sticky Ad Function
When we switch on the use of the sticky ad, the ad scrolls down the ad slot when it is smaller than the ad slot. However, this only applies to top and content slots. The benefit of this functionality is to increase the viewability.
With the offset we can manage that the ad will not be covered e. g. by the menu bar on the top of the page. For our Lifestyle sites this is currently 60 px.
Vertical Slot: only rendering eligible ads
Here we control the behaviour of an ad that is smaller then the ad slot and the loading behaviour of the vertical slot.
The vertical slot is only rendered when it is 100% visible. Whether there is enough space, and if so, for what width of the vertical, depends on the width of the browser window, and also on how wide the content area is.
And it is exactly this width of the content, including the spacing on the left and right, that we have to specify here in the ATF Manager.
How to determine the width exactly can be seen in the following screenshot using http://haus.de as an example. To do this, we need the Examine tool in the Dev Tools and search for the container whose name and dimensions are displayed in the top left corner in the example. At the same time, we see the size visually marked in colour.
Depending on how much space is available on the right, either no vertical at all, a skyscraper with 120x600, 160x600, 200x600, or even a 300x600 HPA and a dynamic sitebar ad can be displayed.
